There are around 6 million car accidents on U.S. roads every year that result in 1.5 million injury victims and 40,000 fatalities annually. Along with my law offices, I’m committed to helping improve road safety in the hopes of significantly reducing car accidents and related injuries and fatalities in Los Angeles County, Orange County, Northern California, Arizona, Illinois, New York, Texas, Washington and the District of Columbia.
Unfortunately, injured victims of motor vehicle accidents receive another blow when trying to collect the compensation they are owed. No one should have to fight with insurance companies over their medical bills when they are recovering from a traumatic event, possibly with significant injuries. I’m proud to advocate as an accident attorney for my clients when they are faced with these types of situations:
- They and/or a passenger suffered a severe injury, or a passenger was killed
- The accident occurred due to a defective car or auto part
- The at-fault driver’s insurance limits do not cover their damages
- Their vehicle was totaled, and the insurance company is challenging the claim
Since auto insurance is mandatory in most states, many people assume that if they are involved in a car accident, their damages are covered. Consider this: in California, drivers must only be insured for $15,000 for each person injured in an accident, up to $30,000. So, if multiple people are injured, they will not collect more than $30,000 between them. The minimum property damage insurance is only $5,000. In a major auto accident, in which the car is totaled, and one or more people suffered significant injury or required medical treatment, these limits will not even begin to cover those costs.
The personal injury attorneys on my team receive so many phone calls from individuals who are frustrated with insurance companies who don’t even want to pay that much. The fact is that insurance companies make money by charging the highest premiums the market will allow, and then denying or minimizing their customers’ claims. They have armies of attorneys to scrutinize your accident case for ways to withhold or deny payment. They even train people to create reasons to withhold payment by calling victims and asking for recorded statements in an effort to refute your claim. They will be watching your social media accounts for evidence that you are not as injured as you say you are. And they do all of this when you are at your weakest.
Without legal representation, it is impossible to fight a company with unlimited legal resources – especially when overwhelmed by injuries, being without a vehicle, drowning in medical bills already, needing additional medical treatment, struggling to keep their job, keeping up with household chores, etc. Clients need someone on their side when they’re up against these massive organizations, to protect them from such underhanded tactics. They call me because they need someone to fight for them.
Victims who have suffered severe injuries or major property damage from a motor vehicle accident, through no fault of their own, have the right to be compensated completely for their financial losses. These can include medical expenses, vehicle damages, towing fees, rental car, lost wages, the cost of ongoing rehabilitation, hiring household help, and thousands of small, unexpected out-of-pocket costs that come with an injury.
Auto accident victims also have a right to receive non-economic damages, which have a very tangible impact on victims’ lives: for instance, physical pain and suffering, post-traumatic stress disorder, social isolation, the inability to participate in the usual sports or hobbies, sexual dysfunction, loss of enjoyment of life, fatigue, anxiety, or depression.
I wish more people knew how much my law firm can help them put their lives back together when an accident injury has torn it apart. If you have been injured due to someone else’s actions or carelessness, the law recognizes your right to recover your losses from the at-fault party, up to the point where your life returns to its previous, non-injured state. Sometimes an injury is so severe the victim can never return to their previous state — in which case, injury victims are entitled to even higher compensation.
Because there are countless factors involved in claims and damages for major auto accident liability, my firm and I are usually able obtain a much greater level of compensation than our clients even realized was possible. As with most personal injury attorneys, your initial consultation with my firm is free, and we work on a contingency basis, so you don’t pay anything unless we win your case. Additionally, we manage all the details involved, including medical claims, repair bills, and even advancing cash to cover expenses, all while sparing them the aggravation of dealing with insurance companies or defense attorneys. Anyone who has been injured in a car accident in which they were not at fault should contact an auto accident attorney — they literally have nothing to lose and may be able to gain a great deal of money to help them put their life back together.
I often say that my business is really customer service; we just happen to practice law. When clients need my legal expertise and experience to help recover from a major auto accident, I am honored to be on their side.
